Nicole came to work at the Northeastern Vermont AHEC in 2009. She began work in the field of public health in 2000 as a community organizer to improve access to health and human services for the uninsured. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2001 from the University of New Hampshire. Nicole worked with the Northern NH AHEC from 2005 until she joined the Northeastern VT AHEC as Executive Director. She lives on her family’s farm in West Burke with her husband and young son.
Mary E. Fleck
Mary joined the AHEC staff in 1998, following 10 years as practice manager for Newport Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. At Northeastern Vermont AHEC, Mary manages the day-to-day operations including finances, facilities, information systems and publication & design. Her interests include music, reading and writing. Mary resides in Barton and moonlights as a professional vocalist and lyricist, performing with local choirs and the musical comedy group, Wing-it.
Education Resource Coordinator
Laura began working at Northeastern VT AHEC in 2008. Prior to that she worked across the river at the Northern NH AHEC from 2001 to 2008. Laura has held a variety of positions at AHEC, including health education, student program coordinator, project manager, and now coordinating continuing education programs. She has her Masters in Education and is a certified health education specialist. She has over 20 years of experience working with non‐profits in rural New Hampshire and Vermont.
Kim A. O’Connor
Health Careers Educator
Kim joined the AHEC staff in 2011 after 20+ years in a variety of positions focused on workforce development. For 10 years she provided supported employment services to people with disabilities as Sr. Employment Specialist. Kim’s experience in career development and in creating partnerships with businesses was instrumental during 7 years of implementing school-to-work programs. Additionally, Kim’s work at the Dept. of Labor enhanced her understanding of labor market demands and projections, which she routinely shares in her classroom presentations to students.
Health Careers Counselor
Carlinne joined the AHEC in 2016 as a social work intern from Salem State University in Massachusetts. In May of 2017, she received her Bachelor’s of Social Work, and In July accepted the position of Health Careers Councilor. Carly's professional interests include advocacy, social justice, working with immigrant families, and supporting and empowering communities.
Jenny came to AHEC after 12 years as a special education paraprofessional. At Northeastern Vermont AHEC, Jenny organizes program participant data, manages the Primary Care Workforce Survey, and coordinates student & resident housing and the Educational Loan Repayment program for primary care providers. Previously she worked as a home companion. Currently Jenny is a church organist, professional harpist and occasional pet-sitter.
